Ashley is a commercial real estate lawyer, with a long track record of advising some of the best-known investors, corporate occupiers, lenders, charities and others on their real estate requirements.
His practice has included on and offshore private and institutional investors, insurers, funds, businesses of all types and high net worth private individuals. Ashley also specialises in landlord and tenant law and general non-contentious real estate advisory work.
In recent years Ashley has advised tenants re-locating into some of the largest signature City office developments. He has also acted for investors on the full life cycle of their assets; this includes the acquisition, financing, refurbishment, re-letting and subsequent disposal of schemes in the City and West End.
Ashley takes a keen general interest in the law and was knowledge management partner in the commercial real estate group at his last firm for many years. He enjoys working as part of a team to deliver the best possible and responsive advice for his clients.
Qualifying as a solicitor in 1986 at Bennetts & Partners in the West End, Ashley subsequently worked in the commercial real estate groups at City firms Birkbeck Montagu’s, CMS (then Cameron Markby Hewitt), and from 1999 to date at Charles Russell Speechlys (formerly Speechly Bircham) where from 2001 he was a partner in what is now their Real Estate and Construction Division. Ashley returns to Merali Beedle in July 2021 after a short period as a real estate partner at Hill Dickinson’s London office.
